Answer: That depends on thickness and temperature.

Handy guideline:
±1 cm thickness → approx. 24 hours
±5 cm thickness → approx. 3 to 4 days

Let your work dry in a ventilated room on an absorbent surface. Want it faster? You can also put it in the oven at 50–60 °C for a few hours.

Answer: After drying, clay remains fine in dry conditions. In moisture, the clay can soften again. So: not suitable for terrariums or aquariums.

Answer: The clay is not flammable, but it can turn black if it gets too close to heat. Please note: do not use varnish, as it is flammable.
Good to know: at very high temperatures, almost anything can burn. That’s why we recommend using an LED tealight, just as cozy and much safer.

Answer: Varnish gives your work a transparent, glossy protective layer, making colors more intense and lasting longer. It makes your paint and clay projects more resistant to moisture and stains. Handy for frequently used items like trays or tabletops. After curing, it is more water-resistant and can be wiped with a damp cloth (not suitable for soaking). Works on both clay and paint.

Answer: Apply varnish thinly with a clean, soft, flat brush. Work in one or two coats (three for an extra even finish), let each layer dry dust-free for 2 to 4 hours and then allow 1 to 2 days to fully cure at about 20 °C. Unsure about the surface or effect? Test on a sample piece first. Done? Ta-da, time for the gloss show!

Answer: Soak the stain well (possibly overnight). Use gall soap or green soap, let soak. Then brush gently from the back of the fabric. This way you don’t push the paint deeper. Always test first if the fabric can handle this.

Dried paint stain? Scrape off as much as possible first. Wet paint stain? Immediately rinse with cold water.

Then apply e.g. liquid green soap, gall soap, Wipp-Express or Vanish Oxi Actionm colorless, fragrance-free baby shampoo or
Bio-Tex (only if suitable). Let soak and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary. Only wash at max. 40 °C once the stain is gone. 

Answer: We keep it animal-friendly. All products on this site are vegan. This applies to Kid’s Creative, Van Bleiswijck acrylic paint in large tubes (incl. Pastels, Fluor, Metallics), Varnish Gloss, Gesso Primer and all air-drying clays.

Answer: The products and packaging are not compostable. The products contain no recycled material. Part of our packaging does contain PCR. PCR stands for post-consumer recycled: recycled material from household plastic waste, among others. Step by step we are working to increase this share.

Answer: If you separate waste, you help a cleaner world. So: create and recycle.

Kid’s Creative poster paint
Wipe brushes on paper first. Clean them as much as possible. Throw paper with dried paint residues in residual waste. Then rinse and clean the brushes under the tap.

Acrylic paint, Varnish and Gesso Primer
Wipe as much paint as possible from the brush onto paper before rinsing the last residues under the tap. Even better: rinse your brush in a jar with a small layer of water. Let the paint particles sink to the bottom and the water evaporate; remove the dried residues and throw them with the residual waste. This way microplastics don’t end up in the environment.

Air-drying clay
Our clay consists of 98% natural raw materials, but is not compostable due to the dyes. Leftovers belong in residual waste.

Paint packaging
Empty packaging as much as possible (squeeze out or cut open). Remove the label: the label goes in residual waste, the empty tube or bottle in plastic waste.

Clay packaging
The packaging of the clay on this page belongs in plastic waste. Cool to know: the new packaging consists of about 50% less plastic and is now recyclable!
